About: Ian is the heart and soul of spokes. He is a chartered mechanical engineer and has worked for major organisations around the globe in the nuclear, power and predominantly the oil & gas industries. COVID-19 scuppered his ability to work internationally and so after a brief pause to draw breath and rethink, he decided to pursue his passion for cycling and use the down time to start a mobile cycle repair and maintenance business. Ian joined Cycle Tech UK, the country’s largest network of independent mobile cycle mechanical, gaining invaluable start-up advice and who continue to provide ongoing technical support.
Cycling has been a constant for Ian from a young age, in fact, a bike of some description was his principal mode of transport until his early thirties when he finally relented and got a car, to this day pedal power remains by far his favourite. Whenever possible he commuted to and from work in Renfrewshire, Aberdeen, Russia and the Middle East to name a few. He has always repaired his own and friends bikes since the early prehistoric times. To formalise his hands-on knowledge, Ian undertook an advanced City & Guilds cycle mechanics course at Cycle Wales. Now adding to his services by becoming the Hikobike e-Bike Approved Distributor for Glasgow and the West
