 e-Bike Motor Repairs

Many motors are not diagnosed early enough, leading to drastic failure a little later down the line.

For warranty and to reduce serving costs, it's essential to keep the service schedule intervals up to date.

Let us inspect your motor to first determine if it is at fault, and if it can be repaired, exchanged for a reconditioned unit or requires a new motor.

“Timely Mending, Save’s Timely Spending”

Specialised e-Bike motor inspections are part of our service before experiencing any major problems.

Every bike we see, we first carry out The M-Check. The bike trade assessment.

For e-Bikes we carry out a much deeper detailed inspection of the motor, to have an understanding of what’s going on inside.

Why does it matter?

Many motors suffer in silence.

One wet ride can destroy the motor.

The British riding conditions can play havoc to bearings on a bicycle and e-Bike motors. Water, dirt, or sand can pass the seal and quickly wear the bearings, eventually corroding the electrics, and destroying the motor.

Everything can feel fine after a wet ride. After a week passes and you take your e-Bike out of the garage, the bike won’t switch on,  there is loss of power, the motor can seize up or later down the line there is a whining noise.

My motor is making a noise, can you help?

We tend to fear the worst, and it's not always coming from inside the motor. Our in-depth inspection will find the issue.

When was your bike last serviced?

We would first need to first inspect your bike.

This is a specific type of inspection to your make, model and e-Bike system. And is best performed during an annual overhaul service.

It could be the motor mounting bolts,  brackets, associated parts that are worn or something else.

Our Cycle Tech’s will carry out a pre-inspection that includes the M-Check and a comprehensive inspection of your motor, to determine what the issue is or whether further investigation of the inside of the motor is required. We can also remove the motor and send it away for repair, and arrange a time to refit. Your motor will be correctly packaged in a suitable box.

"Specialist e-Bike motor inspections are part of investigating and preventive maintenance - Reducing costly breakdowns on the trails and road."

Once the bearings are worn, and you keep riding your e-Bike, many things can happen that will destroy the motor, the seals let in more water, dirt and sand. The bearings become out of alignment and wear other components and crack the motor housing.

Pedal strikes and hard falls can also damage the bearing, as they get knocked out of alignment.

To reduce wear and damage is to have your e-Bike regularly inspected at the point of service.

If your e-Bike is out of the 2-years warranty or you are not the original owner. You can have your motor repaired and the choice to upgrade the bearings and seals.
