A. Please use the Find A Cycle Technician Near Me Page. Or browse the Map Locator.
Q. How do I book or contact a Cycle Technician?
A. Click on the Cycle Tech’s business listing nearest to you and use the Contact/Book Now Form for an appointment. Or click Book Now. And we will do our best to accommodate you as soon as possible.
You can also request a call back through the form if you’d prefer to speak with someone after the Cycle Technician has received your details.
Q. What details are required to best serve me when describing the issues with my bike?
A. It can be tricky to know what service or repairs your bike might need without an inspection by a suitable skilled person.
We work with the industry M-Check. At Cycle Tech UK we have enhanced the M-Check for e-Bikes, with specific checks and carry out at every visit. Then we offer service options, once we have visited and better understand the bikes use and mileage.
It will help when contacting your local Cycle Tech UK Technician or using the Book A Service Form, to provide specific details that can help diagnose the problem, and your location to put you within striking distance of a Cycle Tech.
Key aspects to consider: Type of bike, symptoms of the problem or service type, maintenance history, usage patterns and environmental factors.
Q. What Is an M-Check?
A. You may see the term M-Check used throughout our website.
One of the biggest challenges in the cycle industry is making a clear distinction between an inspection, a service, and a repair. The M-Check is the starting point and forms the foundation of every professional assessment.
An M-Check is a systematic inspection of the bicycle or e-Bike. It involves both a visual inspection and a hands-on assessment of the main components, together with a discussion about how the bike is used.
We may ask questions such as:
- How often do you ride?
- What type of riding do you do (commuting, leisure, mountain biking, etc.)?
- What riding conditions does the bike experience?
- Is the bike being prepared for an upcoming event or trip?
- When was it last serviced?
The purpose of the M-Check is to assess the overall condition of the bike, identify any obvious safety or maintenance issues, and understand your requirements before any work begins.
From this inspection, we can advise on the most appropriate course of action, whether that's a repair, a routine service, an upgrade, or further investigation and diagnosis if more complex issues are identified.
Q. I have brought a new bike/e-Bike online, and it comes in a box. Can you assemble the bike and check if it's safe?
A. Yes, this is known as a PDI in the bike trade. Pre delivery inspection and handover, we can show you how everything works and set the bike to the rider. You may like the view: Home Bike Build Service. We can also continue with the after care in the future, so you have the confidence there is local mechanical support.
Q. Can you service or fix my e-Bike?
A. We are certified repair technicians for Bosch, Shimano STEPS, TQ e-bike system, & BMW.
We do have experience with Yamaha, Bafang, Fazura, Wisper, BatriBike, Raleigh, SR Suntour and Trans X - EBCO. We will only attempt to service those brands' electrical systems, if the parts and tech support is available, and meet the legal requirements.*
All other e-Bike systems, mainly Chinese origin motors and batteries, it is unlikely we will be able to source any parts. All other brands not listed, in most cases we can service the non-electric parts.

Q. How Much Is My Bicycle Really Going To Cost To Get Fixed Or Serviced?
A. No two jobs are the same, and the price will be dependent on many things. A Cycle Technician cannot give quotes (or even vague estimations) without seeing your bike first. See our: Price Menu that can be used as a general guide. Final pricing will be confirmed after assessment.
Q. What About Travel?
A. As a mobile service, travel is an important part of how we operate and can influence availability and pricing.
Each Cycle Technician covers a defined working area and will always do their best to accommodate your location. However, travel time, distance, the type of bike (particularly e-Bikes), and the nature of the work required all need to be considered when arranging a visit.
If your bike requires only a minor repair, such as a puncture, we may ask when it was last serviced? Combining smaller repairs with a service can often reduce overall costs, minimise downtime, and help identify any other maintenance issues before they become more expensive repairs.
We understand that many customers rely on their bike or e-Bike for commuting and may have no practical way of transporting it to a workshop. Our aim is to provide a convenient, professional service at your home or workplace while making the most efficient use of our time on the road.
Q. Can I get my e-Bike fixed under warranty?
A. We work with BOSCH, Shimano, BMW, & Yamaha, plus a few other selected brands. You will need to show some ID, a copy of the original purchase invoice. We will raise a case with the brand/manufacturer and send the relevant diagnostic & service reports, photos or video evidence for them to confirm it will be covered under warranty. The parts will be sent to your Cycle Technician for exchange and you will be billed for the labour involved, and this is calculated case by case with each manufacturer.
Cycle Tech UK will advise you fully with the individual processes with your warranty claim.
Q. * What are the e-Bike legal requirements?
A. The electric motor must not exceed a maximum continuous rated power of 250W; and the electric motor must not offer electrical assistance beyond a speed 15.5mph. If you tamper with your e-Bike to make it go faster than 15.5mph, you are changing the class type to a moped, and making the warranty void. In the cases of finding a speed device fitted to your e-Bike, our Cycle Tech's will refuse to work on your e-Bike or send you an email for your consent to remove such device to continue to carry out a service or repairs. It will be at the customer's responsibility to let the Cycle Technician first know if such a device has been fitted, before carrying out any M-Checks, diagnostics, or firmware updates that may lock the motor from functioning correctly. E-bikes after 2016 fitted with a throttle; that the throttle does not assist more than walking speed. Cycle Tech UK does not support e-Bikes that do not meet these legal requirements. More information can be found: Electric Bike Service - Practical guidance before buying an e-Bike.
Q. Do You Repair E-Scooters?
No. We do not repair or service e-scooters. Due to concerns around product quality, parts availability, safety, and long-term reliability, we have chosen to focus exclusively on bicycles and e-bikes.
