2025: A Positive Year for Riding & Repairs
A year of delivering trusted repairs while building skills, confidence, and connections on two wheels

As we stepped into Spring 2025
There's there was a noticeable shift happening across the UK bike repair scene.
After two seasons of rain and sluggish sales, the sun is finally shining—and so are opportunities. Bike shops are seeing a surge in kids’ bikes and e-bikes sales, with the latter often moving only with discounts.
"Cycling events are gaining momentum once again. With fewer cancellations due to weather conditions or lack of rider interest." - Overall, very positive signs for cyclists.
Enquiries are up—and not just in volume, but in quality. There's a clear decline in low-value, budget e-bike repairs and a growing appreciation for professional service and proper aftercare.
For us, it's a healthy start to the year, following nearly two years of uncertainty across both the bike trade and the wider economy.
Economic downturns are never easy, but they often bring clarity. They sweep aside poorly managed operations and open the door for more agile, creative businesses to adapt, survive—and even thrive. The bike trade is no different. While headlines continue to focus on the doom and gloom, we’ve found that turning off the news and getting out on the bike gives us something else entirely: A different perspective.
When you’re riding, everything slows down. You're reminded of what truly matters—freedom, health, community, and connection. And with that clarity, we can start focusing not just on where we're going, but how we’re getting there, and enjoying the journey along the way.
In the e-bike motor world, we're also seeing promising changes. Manufacturers are stepping up to support mechanics with better training and technical support—an investment that pays off for everyone. A well-trained mechanic can offer premium aftercare that keeps bikes running better for longer, and riders motivated to keep pedaling. That knowledge and backup creates a true win-win, benefiting both the customer and the brand.

Of course, challenges remain. Local bike shops are still closing, some distributors have gone under, and many households are watching their spending closely. In that environment, mobile bike repair services are uniquely placed to offer real value. We're
meeting customers where they are—saving them time, money, and the risk of needing even more repairs down the line.
“Customers don't need to buy expensive tools they rarely use. Or risk braking anything they try fixing themselves.”
- We can save them money.
Interestingly, we've seen a rise in people attempting DIY fixes, often without the right tools or expertise. While we understand the motivation, it frequently leads to bigger issues—and ultimately, more work for us to put right. Again, it highlights the growing
value of professional, mobile repair services.
As we moved through 2025, it’s clear: the bike trade is evolving, and so are we. By staying focused on quality, building trust through skill and service, and embracing the opportunities that change brings, we're not just weathering the storm—we're riding
through it stronger than before.
The Summer Continued Positively
Workshops and mobile services are receiving high volumes of enquiries, particularly from families pulling out multiple bikes that haven’t seen use in four years.

Trade Insights
As the traditional bike trade grapples with rising costs and increasingly price-sensitive consumers, a critical question emerges: can the market bear another round of price increases? Or are we on the cusp of a structural shift—one that opens the door for Chinese manufacturers to go direct to consumer, bypassing the traditional supply chain altogether?
With online platforms maturing and global logistics becoming more efficient, direct-to-consumer (DTC) models offer lower prices, faster delivery, and fewer intermediaries. Chinese brands are well-positioned to leverage this, especially as Western retailers struggle to maintain margins.
In this landscape, one group is particularly well-placed to thrive: mobile bike mechanics. Their flexibility, low overheads, and proximity to customers make them ideal partners—or even facilitators—for DTC models. By handling assembly, servicing, and warranty work on behalf of DTC brands, mobile mechanics could become the local face of a global shift.

Is There a Growing Demand for Mobile Bike Repairs Amid Fewer Shops?
Over the past four years, many bike shops have closed their doors—unable to stay afloat in a changing economy. As a result, the demand for bike repairs is rising, with fewer shops available to meet the needs of local cyclists. This growing gap presents
both a challenge for riders and an opportunity for new or mobile repair businesses to grow from?
Absolutely! Especially among e-bike owners. e-bikes require more frequent maintenance due to their complex electrical systems, and their size and weight make transportation to a shop inconvenient. Add to that a time-poor customer base, and the need for convenient, on-site repair services has never been greater.
The Opportunity for Those with Passion and Purpose
But this growing demand isn't for everyone to seize. The real opportunity lies with those who act as modern-day choragus—fueled by passion, resilience, and a deep understanding of cyclists' needs. Those willing to meet riders where they are—Time poor and require a suitable skilled person to attend—can carve out a meaningful place in this evolving market.
